Rohantha De Fonseka
Senior Director
A renowned marketing professional with extensive experience in trading. Mr. Rohantha De Fonseka is a founder Director of the parent company, Biomed International (Pvt) Ltd, who has been with the organisation since 1989. A marketing career spanning over 25 years has amply prepared him for his position as the Senior Director of the Company where he successfully oversees the implementation of all major projects undertaken by the Biomed Group of Companies. Mr. De Fonseka has made a significant contribution over the past two and a half decades particularly during the formative years of the Company when he oversaw all operations of the business, thus laying a firm foundation for the Company to be propelled to the commanding position it enjoys among the country’s healthcare industry today.
Chehan Samarasinghe
Managing Director
An engineer by profession, Mr. Chehan Samarasinghe who joined the parent company, Biomed International (Pvt) Ltd, in the year 1997 has undergone extensive training in Haematology Analyzers with Coulter Electronics – UK (Now Beckman Coulter – S.A.) and has received product training on Aesculap Neuro and General Surgical Instruments. Chehan is authorized and trained from Eastwood Park – UK to undertake Medical Gas Projects to HTM 2022 standards. As the Managing Director of the Biomed Group, Chehan oversees overall operations of the company covering sourcing, project implementation and marketing, including liaison with global principals.

Our Leadership Team
Ranjana Wijesinghe
Chief Executive Officer
Ranjana Wijesinghe brings over two and a half decades of experience in the healthcare industry, spanning pharmaceuticals, hospitals, and clinical laboratory sectors. He holds a MBA from Cardiff Metropolitan University, UK, and a Diploma in Marketing Management from the University of Sri Jayewardenepura, Sri Lanka. As a member of both the Chartered Institute of Marketing, UK, and the Sri Lanka Institute of Marketing, Ranjana has held various leadership roles at Biomed Scientific, culminating in his current position as CEO since 2020. His extensive background and expertise drive the company’s strategic vision and growth.
Indika Gamage
Chief Financial Officer
Indika Gamage, with over two decades of experience in finance across trading, manufacturing, construction, and audit sectors, is the Chief Financial Officer at Biomed Scientific (Pvt) Ltd, Sri Lanka, since 2020. He holds a MBA and a MSc in Strategic Marketing from Cardiff Metropolitan University, UK, and a BBA in Finance from the University of Colombo, Sri Lanka. Additionally, he has a Diploma in Digital Marketing from the Chartered Institute of Marketing, UK. A Fellow Member of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (UK) and a Chartered Global Management Accountant, Indika is also a Certified Management Accountant with the Institute of Certified Management Accountants in Australia and New Zealand. His international experience includes serving as a Financial Analyst in Saudi Arabia, and he has also held the position of Senior Executive at Ernst and Young, Sri Lanka. His broad expertise, which includes qualifications as a Chartered Member of the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (UK) and an Associate Member of both the Chartered Institute of Marketing (UK) and the Sri Lanka Institute of Marketing, ensures robust financial leadership and strategic growth for the company.
Rukmal Pathirana
General Manager – Technical Services
Rukmal Pathirana, with over two and a half decades of experience in the healthcare industry, is the General Manager of Technical Services at Biomed Scientific since 2016. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering from the University of Moratuwa, Sri Lanka. Rukmal has held various positions within the company, including Biomedical Engineer, Service Manager, and Deputy General Manager of Technical Services. His extensive expertise in the clinical laboratory sector drives the technical excellence and service quality of the organization.
Navin Perera
Business Strategist
Navin Perera brings over a decade of marketing experience in the medical devices sector to his role as the Business Strategist at Biomed Scientific. He holds a Master of Business in Advanced Marketing from Monash University, Australia, and a Bachelor of Business Administration in Business Management from Edith Cowan University, Australia. Navin began his career at the Sri Lanka Tourist Board, later joining Unilever Sri Lanka. Since joining Biomed in 2013 as a Product Manager, he now oversees all marketing activities for the Biomed group of companies.
